1.1. Ethical Considerations
We are committed to upholding the highest ethical standards throughout the review process. Authors are expected to adhere to principles of academic integrity, ensuring that their work is original, properly cited, and free from plagiarism. Reviewers are selected based on their expertise, objectivity, and commitment to confidentiality. The editorial team, in turn, is responsible for fostering an environment that promotes fairness, transparency, and unbiased decision-making.
It is mandatory to get approval from Ethics Committee (Rwanda National Ethics Committee in case of Rwanda) from the country where the study is being undertaken.
For studies involving either human patients, the consent must commit on protection of patients' personal identity. For all other human-related data, the consent must commit to maintain confidentiality of the individual data (e.g., socioeconomic status). In addition, the consent forms must include peoples’ rights to a language they clearly understand. Where applicable, The Editorial Board may request for documented proof of the consent form used by the researchers.
1.2. Rwanda National Ethics Commitee
Rwanda national Ethics Committee is established to ensure ethical and scientific standards for carrying out biomedical research on human subjects. Biomedical research includes research on pharmaceuticals, medicals device, medical radiation and imaging, surgical procedures, medical records, biological samples, epidemiological, social and psychological investigations. If the research clearance certificate of one of the above fields, the certificate of clearance from RNEC will be required.
1.3. Declaration of interest
All authors must disclose any financial and personal relationships with other people or organizations that could inappropriately influence (bias) their work. Examples of potential competing interests include employment, consultancies, stock ownership, paid expert testimony, patent applications/registrations, and grants or other funding. Authors must disclose any interests in a declaration of interest statement in the manuscript. If there are no interests to declare then please state this: 'Declarations of interest: none'.
2.4. In text citations
Note that all papers accepted for East Africa journal of Sciences and Technology are subject to originality checking, including use of the Plagiarism Checker (Turnitin). To avoid any challenges or problems, please ensure that your submission has a Similarity Index of less than 15% and that all citations are fully disclosed at the point of submission.
1.5. Plagiarism
Plagiarism is unacceptable for East Africa Journal of Sciences and technology. When the plagiarism is detected, the East Africa Journal of Sciences and Technology reserves the right to decline the submission. The similarity index acceptable should be below 15%.
